Today the sky was a bit wild. Bright autumn sunlight alternated with dark pewter-y skies so that one minute the city was lit up and the next plunged into gloom.
Edinburgh Castle seen from the Liberton area of the city which lies to the south of the Old Town. In the hazy distance you can just make out the coast of the Kingdom of Fife.
Looking west/northwest towards Edinburgh Castle and the ridge of the Old Town from near Salisbury Crags.

@Tim - thank you!! but oh are we ever mortified!!
Lakeland came up trumps so have lids and labels.
Quinces for you when they are ripe, if you still want them.
Ahhh Edinburgh, how I love thee.
Take care Sunday night/Monday morning. Big storm coming across England.
That light is wonderful.
@Rusty Duck - it is a wonderful city. :-)
Looks like we'll miss the worst of the storm up here, but by the sounds of it, you need to tie down anything and everything! Hope you come through unscathed.
@Fly - The city did do its best to put on its party dress when we were out with the camera.
It's such an impressive city. I've not been for a few years, but always think I should visit more often.
What super panoramic views of that lovely city. It's many years since I last visited, though we wave from the ring-road on our way north sometimes and one of my sisters now lives in Charlestown on the shore of the kingdom of Fife. :-)
Such great shots! I’d love to visit Scotland – it does look very beautiful.

Great shot of Pauline's home town - ok to keep a copy?
@ AJ - I like the fact that it has an intimate feel but is definitely a city. And Niall is biased as it's his hometown. :-)
@Perpetua - like the idea of a wave from the ring road :-).
Walnuts posted in Welshpool on 30th.
@Vagabonde - if you do come over to visit Britain then Edinburgh is a 'must'.
@Jim & Pauline - yes if you like; it's Niall's hometown too.
And gratefully received today. If I'd known you were going to be in Welshpool I could have collected them, as we're only about 26 miles away. :-)
@Perpetua - Not to worry :-). We only realised when we were looking at the map! .... after we'd been to the post office!
Understood, but it would have been so lovely to meet you both, even if only for a few minutes.
That last photo is really spectacular. Can't see an enlargement of the first one.
@Ken - Thanks for letting us know. I've reloaded it so now it enlarges properly when you click on it.
