My basket now...

basket stall, Loches market
As fellow teachers will know it is amazing how much stuff one schlepps to and fro to school on a daily basis. My collection is usually an amalgm of: papers to hand back, DVDs, papers to mark, notes, files, the odd spare copy of a text and all manner of other gubbins; such as enough keys to sink a jailor, a memory stick or three [aka clé USB] and of course my laptop.
Nothing odd in that, but it all needs to be carried around in something.

While our friend Jane was visiting us earlier this month we went to Loches' Saturday market. Right at the crossroads of two of the main streets there's a lovely and much photographed basket stall. It sits on a corner diagonally opposite the fountain and always has a host of beautifully colored and patterned baskets. Here Jane very kindly bought me a lovely basket as a belated birthday present. It is just the right size to cart a whole load of stuff to school in and I was going to start using it when school re-starts.
mine, all mine

Perhaps not.....
As of this morning Tinka seems to have taken up squatter's rights.....

Hello Niall and Antoinette:
After many years of school, we have to admit to the joy of September without a return to the classroom. One day soon to be shared by you too we trust!

Your new basket looks beautiful as well as practical and we just wonder if Tinka might like to go to school too?!!

How cute. That Tinka of yours is quite a character. Happy 'rentrée'! Martine

I know the problem! I use one of the large bags that you pick up at the supermarket eurocheck out for about a euro EVERY time you go shopping without a bag. I have a stock of about 20, added to EVERY time I go shopping!!!

Would you like one, either for yourself or Katinka? :o))

Mind you, none are as stylish as your basket .....

@ Jane & Lance - still have a number of years to go.....
Please don't give Tinka ideas!! ;-) She adores being the center of attention so would probably love it...(sigh)

@ Martine - yes she is and KNOWS it!! Quite the [lovable] little madam!
Rentrée is next week.

@Gaynor - some days I feel distinctly like a baglady or packhorse!
I'll consult Katinka and see if she wishes a bag...
..only if it is very trendy she informs me! ;-)) She'll be wanting a bling collar next!!

What a colourful stall. The picture of Tinka inside it is fabulous. She certainly looks comfortable!

@ Craig - she slept in it all afternoon. Looks like it's going to be her new 'favourite' place.

Awwww... wee girl! That is SO cute - but I do think you should take ownership back and reclaim for school. Maybe when I visit you next, I should buy Katinka one too!!

@ Jane - LOL! knowing her if you bought her one she'd probably express NO interest in it whatsoever!!
