Sun, sun, sun!

Hurrah! This morning we woke up to clear blue skies and not a breath of wind. Enfin! we have some summer weather! It may not yet be as warm as normal but it really raises the spirits to have the sunshine.

our wildflower patch
Yesterday, the people we bought the house from came by. When they sold the house to us they arranged to have their furniture stored in our neighbour's barn pending a decision as to what they would do next. From Paris, they are a lovely couple who generously allowed us to stay for a week before we finally exchanged contracts to 'get the feel of the house'. They have again bought themselves a holiday home, but this time near Honfleur on the Normandy coast.  It was very nice to see them again and we gave them a tour of the house. They took photographs of the house and they seemed to really like the changes we'd made. They thought the terrace was fantastic.
California poppy, an absolute favorite
Speaking of the terrace, it will be finished today! So photos of the completed space in all it's glory will appear shortly. In the meantime, with the sun out, we thought we'd share some pics of our little wildflower patch which is doing well [this it's second year]. We were sent the seeds by a very dear friend who lives in Granby, Massachusetts. It has been interesting to see what has done well this year, as compared to last year, when it was so very dry.

I could not agree more it is so nice to see the sun again. Hopefully it will bring some warmth as well. It was very chilly this morning. Have a good week Diane

@Diane - forecast is for temps to go to mid/upper 20's tomorrow which is more like it :-)

Send some over please ... if you can spare some. It was sunny this morning here, but by 10 a.m. it was raining AGAIN and it still is. Temperature? 12.5 C!!! Being at the office all day, you don't hear me complaining, but I feel so sorry for the people who are 'enjoying' their annual vacation right now. Martine

Rain here! At least it didn't rain in my little bit of Staffordshire on St Swithin's day.

Enjoy the sun. I've just put the central heating on as it's damp and cold.

@Gaynor - we're not out of the woods yet... cool with rain forecast again on Thursday....'sigh' So bring a fleece; you might well need it.

It does make such a difference. :-) Sunny intervals here rather than completely clear blue skies, but we're less than 30 miles from the coast, which means the weather doesn't settle down very quickly.

LOVE your wildflower patch!

@Perpetua - doesn't it just! :-)
Not anywhere near Le Bec Helouin by any chance?

The farmers are desperate for some good weather for the cereal harvest. It's a mixed blessing for us - good for our neighbours but some heavy traffic with grain lorries going past our house empty/noisy/fast one way and laden/noisy/slow the other!

About 90 miles south-west as the crow flies. We're in the south of Manche, not far from the border with Brittany.

@Pauline - Eric has harvested his oilseed rape so we have our view of the valley back :-).
Noisy indeed! We used to get the sugar beet lorries thundering down the village street when we lived near York. [quite smelly too!]

@Perpetua - not an area we know well. In fact have never visited the Cotentin pennisula north of you. Still so much to see! :-)

Our sellers have also been back to inspect our renovations, thankfully they also approve.

@LindyLou - as you say 'thankfully' otherwise such avisit could have been awkward!
