Flying visit

Just about half an hour ago, while we were out giving the fruit trees a water we heard the unmistakable hiss of a hot air balloon.

The sound seemed to be coming from the direction of Obterre so we walked over to the eastern side of our property and sure enough a balloon sailed into view.

It passed right over our property and we were able to get some photos. We waved but we're not sure if they waved back--it was hard to see. All in all a lovely end to the day.

It's very exciting when a balloon goes over your house isn't it?
You captured it very well considering the difficult angles involved. Well done!

We regularly get balloon flights over in the UK, sometimes there will be 3 or 4 at once. We live fairly close to Shugborough Hall where there is a base.

We haven't seen any at Le Petit-Pressigny yet, but we'll look out for them!

I love the pic of the balloon directly overhead.

@Craig: it is fun and this one was quite low and firing quite frequently. Used to see them regularly when I drove the A12 commuting from Suffolk to London.
Thanks for the compliment re photos :-) I'm very pleased with the result as the camera is an Exilim 6 megapixel point and click. [I'm working on getting a Canon EOS 500D.... slowly :-)]

@Gaynor; Hope you had an easy trip back to UK. Must be lovely on a summer's evening to see 3 or 4 sail by overhead.
As an added bonus 2 of the deer appeared not long after so a super evening!
Playtime is over; back teaching in school tomorrow.

@Gaynor: BTW what camera did you go for in the end??

We went for the Canon EOS 6D, for a number of reasons (which escape me at the moment!)I'm not really a gadget person.

Have a look next time we meet. We are very happy with it, although to be honest Tim uses it more than I do. The only slight irritation we've encountered is that the 'click' seems really loud.

Good luck at school - I know the feeling........

When we lived in Bavaria on Lake Starnberg we often heard the loud hiss from the balloons as they floated over the lake -- quite a magic thing once you know what the hell 'that noise' is!!! Hope some day I get to go up in one ... Thanks for your comment and visit to my blog -- greatly appreciated.
