The tiles are indeed made from terra cotta (terre cuite in French) but flat rather than curved. You see many old houses around here with these roof tiles and they give real warmth and character.Niall & Antoinettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12699304108340257145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771539132515843977.post-14008411075141647572011-06-02T17:30:32.355+02:002011-06-02T17:30:32.355+02:00Wow, Antoinette! What are the tiles made of, btw? They resemble the terra cotta roof tiles used in Italy, but I'm not sure if that's it.Adam Waterfordhttp://www.roofingandmoreinc.com/roofing-and-insulation-chantilly-va/shingle-roofing-styles/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771539132515843977.post-52014072368042122892011-05-15T15:18:03.135+02:002011-05-15T15:18:03.135+02:00@martine--not been to that Chateau, no.@martine--not been to that Chateau, no.Niall & Antoinettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12699304108340257145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771539132515843977.post-35510390704835480592011-05-15T15:16:23.376+02:002011-05-15T15:16:23.376+02:00@Susan--could well be. Have put a bunch of blooms in a vase in the living room and they really fill the place with their scent.

@Gaynor-- once established you could easily leave them to get on with it. Ours were somewhat neglected se we gave them a decent prune to bring them back; but we don't water them.

We've got the festival pencilled in the desk diary--they're holding it the 28th/29th May. We drove through recently and already the village was spectacular.

@Martine--if only the tasted as good as they look and smell we'd be eating them big time :-)Niall & Antoinettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12699304108340257145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771539132515843977.post-9552920656091271332011-05-15T11:14:36.629+02:002011-05-15T11:14:36.629+02:00Those roses look and sound very 'tasteful'...Those roses look and sound very 'tasteful'. The roses there are fantastic but a little bit expensive (we've spoken about prices of flowers/plants before).

We aren't in France enough at present to properly care for our plants, but if I was, I'd have more roses.GaynorBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12971753467966206018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771539132515843977.post-59471189273783126162011-05-14T11:00:44.166+02:002011-05-14T11:00:44.166+02:00The rose could be Crépuscule, a beautiful tea rose...The rose could be Crépuscule, a beautiful tea rose, one of my faves.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06472449597146519943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771539132515843977.post-48982597938454231872011-05-12T19:20:23.755+02:002011-05-12T19:20:23.755+02:00Your roof seems to have the same construction as o...Your roof seems to have the same construction as ours - but yours is straighter!
